To qualify, the project had to be sensitive to environmental and aesthetic parking design solutions, incorporate a mix of uses, create a unique presence, demonstrate best design practises and enhance the neighbourhood and community. With the skilful use of high-low columns and fabric shaped to deliver canopies of various dimensions of intersecting patterns and vibrant yet harmonious colored shade materials all blended to create this unique structure and award winning design.

The designer, Ross Bond, hails from the Outback in Australia. He was bought to America by SKYShades in 2004 to help set up the business and head up the Design Division. Ross has been designing these structures for the past 15 years and is excited to see the awareness for this relatively new product increasing and businesses starting to realize there is now an alternative to your standard awning type structures.

Jeff Bonynge, owner of Images Auto Spa, in his 18 years' experience has never observed the general public coming to his business, not only to have vehicles washed, but to take pictures of the completed structures. Over and above this, he has witnessed a procession of interested spectators who resort to parking across from his facility to photograph the SKYShades Colonial Drive 'work-of-art'! From the commercial side, Jeff claims that his turnover has increased by 37% in the first year, and more importantly, his staff has thrived in the new work environment he has established for them. Moreover, the fall-out of trained staff has ceased to be a problem as employees from other facilities are queuing up to join Jeff's Images Car Wash.
